Featured Story - Turner and Constable: Two of Britain’s greatest painters, J.M.W. Turner and John Constable will be the focus of an exhibition to mark their 250th birthday anniversaries.
Born within a year of each other – Turner in 1775, and Constable in 1776 – they used landscape art to reflect the changing world around them. Turner travelled extensively, depicting dramatic seascapes and landscapes. Constable, who never left England, preferred simpler depictions of placid rural scenery. Art critics compared their paintings to a clash of ‘fire and water’.
