David Robert Jones, known to millions as David Bowie, was an English musician and actor who produced some of the most iconic music of the 20th century.
He produced twenty-seven studio albums with hits including the likes of Let’s Dance, Starman, Space Oddity, Rebel Rebel, Heroes, Life on Mars and Under Pressure.
Bowie was a visionary and one of the most innovative artists of his time, and was well known for creating his alter ego Ziggy Stardust. Aside from his career in music he was also an accomplished actor appearing on Broadway in the Elephant Man and in movies such as The Man Who Fell to Earth and Labyrinth.
Bowie died of liver cancer in New York on 10th January, 2016, two days after his 69th birthday.
During his lifetime, his record sales were estimated well over 100 million copies and they continue to sell to his date. His influence continuing to inspire a new generation of artists
