Recognition has brought economic relief but has also endangered the traditional craft because of increased quantity demands with little regard for the time required to produce the pottery. Jemah is one of the few exceptions. Not only has she adapted her creative skills to a more modern and refined style, but she still uses the same techniques and materials that have survived for centuries. Her motifs are derived from nature; chehda, honeycomb, and boul thor, the tracks of oxen pulling a plough. AKG11123463 ©akg-images / Margaret Courtney-Clarke / african.pictures
